One of the things that I think often gets overlooked when trying to establish an atmosphere or a style in a house is the kind of music that will be played. Since I’m kind of having a slow day today, I thought I’d share with you some of the songs I’m currently obsessing over:
(1) The Calling, Mary Chapin Carpenter
(2) Rain, Patty Griffin
(3) These are the Days, Sugarland
(4) No Reins, Rascal Flatts
(5) Love Your Love the Most, Eric Church
(6) Got Whatever it is, Zac Brown Band
(7) Good Time, Lady Antebellum
(8) The Dreaming Fields, Trisha Yearwood
(9) Get Me Through December, Alison Krauss
(10) My Traveling Star, James Taylor
Most of these are really calm, acoustic style songs. Great songs to study to, great songs to hum when you’re cleaning the kitchen, and fabulous for falling asleep or waking up (I like to wake up softly and slow songs help me do that). Nothing can calm me down faster than a nice soothing song. Although playing a nice soothing song on a piano might actually calm me down faster than just listening to one. One day we’ll get a house and have a place to put a piano!
What songs are you listening to right now? Do I need to “update my references”?
