• Christmas Cards and Fall Room Arrangement

This year I decided that we should make our own cards.  I had something very particular in mind: they needed to be simple, sweet, not too hard to make, and it would be best if they were postcards (cuts down on envelopes = good for the environment; cuts down on postage = good for my bank account).  So I took some paper that I bought at Target a while back and hauled out the stamps and made some little postcards.  Unfortunately, my pictures didn’t turn out well, but this is the (I hesitate to use this word) best picture:

I also made some in a pale grey-green and a light tan, both with white embossing.  I wish I could take better pictures and show you how great they turned out!

I also did a little bit of re-arranging and building.  Here’s a picture of the only corner in our living room before:

Sorry for the blurriness (I’m seriously considering investing in a tripod.  That or learning how to use my camera).  But you get the point – there’s about four feet of wall between the sliding doors and the corner, and that wall contains an air conditioner.  There’s tons of mis-matched furniture, and it’s just not appealing.

So I finally decided to do something about it!  I took an old white shelf that was exactly the right size, laid it on top of the air-conditioner and added legs.  Then all I had to do was attach a quick sheer skirt that can be pulled back when the air conditioner is on and cover it when it’s off and all of a sudden – STORAGE!!!  Then I turned the couch sideways so it didn’t look as lonely, put the wine bottle holder (which is never used) behind the couch for some table space, and moved the blanket hamper to be within easy access of the couch.  What do you think of the result?

    Much better, no?

Alright, I’m off to go do some studying, but I’m really excited about the Wedding Wednesday tomorrow, especially seeing as how I missed it last week!

    Have a great night!

You are amazingly creative! I love what you did with that corner. It never would have occurred to me to cover the air conditioner that way. Extra bonus points to you because you created storage while you were at it! Very clever. :)

A tip on taking not-so-blurry photos: Hold your breath just before you snap the picture. It’s not as good as a tripod, but sometimes it works. I read somewhere that you can make a tripod using a screw and some string but haven’t tried it out yet.
