I’m sure that you’ve all noticed that I have a thing for modern country style. And I really do have a love for clean, strong, white lines balanced out with comfort and a lived-in look. But today, I thought I’d stretch myself a little bit. See, I’ve been thinking about my sisters, both of whom have very different styles than me. Granted, we’re all pretty young and none of us actually has a house yet, and we’re all still stuck decorating with furniture that doesn’t quite jive with our styles, but I can tell you that neither of them are likely to go quite as “country” as I would in decor. My older sister, for example, really seems to like clean, polished looks, but she really shies away from the frou-frou where I would embrace it. Also, she’s known for her favorite color being pink – but for her it’s not a color that she would want everywhere. She understands (more than most people) that liking a color means that you can highlight it, not bathe the room entirely in pink. Plus, now that she’s living with her fiance, I’d be surprised to see too much pink in her decor.
So, in light of all that, I thought I’d put together a little bit of a room board for her. Yes, it’s all fantasy because some of the items are a little on the expensive side for a couple starting out, and yes, to make this work for them they’d probably have to switch out the few pink accessories for some orange or green ones (or better yet scarlet, and then the room would be scarlet and grey! O-H! Anybody? Anybody?)
Anywhoo, without further ado, here is a pink, punchy, and peppy mood board for my favorite older sister!
Here’s the big stuff overview:
Well, that’s all for today, I’ve got to run. Alex, I hope you like this and that I’m not a million light years off!
The colors rock!!! That would be a really cool room, but I think you have me off on the chair and couch- they don’t look to comfy. Those pieces should be super comfortable, not something I’d crack my elbow on
remember, I’m still a clutz! I think you’d be surprised how “country” my look is. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I’m still against kitsch and deer heads on walls, but sunny, clean, and white is a great base to start on! One day when we buy a house I’ll have to have you over and you can help me decorate and pull it all together!
