Wishing for an outdoor life…

It’s spring, hooray!  Okay, I know it happened last week.  But really, I’ve been on the road, and I just got home this morning, and so today is really my first day of spring in Boulder.  And it definitely feels like it – 60s and sunny.  So pretty!

And it makes me want to plant things.  And then let those things loose to die grow on their own.  I would keep them alive if I could, but I’m not that good.  However, I have the desire to try, and that has to count for something, doesn’t it?

So with all of that planning, I’ve decided that I’m going to try to get Marty to build us some bench/planters this summer for our balcony.  If I’m lucky, he can even put a little bit of storage into them, and we’ll finally be able to use our balcony!  Hooray!!!  Especially since this might be our last summer in Boulder.  Here are the plans I’m looking at:

Planter Bench from www.minwax.com

Storage bench from www.minwax.com - to go between some planters

Astilbes from www.amazon.com

August Moon hosta from www.amazon.com

Hardy Lady fern from www.amazon.com

Here’s hoping I can convince him – I think it’d be beautiful!  Do you have any big spring plans?  Are you ready to try and start gardening like me, or do I just have cabin fever really badly?

I like the planter. Very nice. :)

If it ever stops raining and dries up enough, I’ll be planting veggies such as lettuces, spinach, and some Swiss chard soon. Then we’ll move on to tomatoes and peppers (yellow and orange).

I should have some asparagus shooting up soon, too. This will be the first year we’ve harvested asparagus. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a decent crop.
