• Source list for a modern farmhouse kitchen

Just looking at the first two pictures of the last post, I tried to find good examples of the products.  Granted, you’re probably better off hitting a flea market and making/building/upholstering most of it yourself, but here’s a pretty close sourced list.  I did change around the chairs a little bit because the kitchen table chairs didn’t look that comfortable, and I preferred an upholstered (even better – slipcovered!) chair, but I also wanted to retain the vintage look more than the modern look in the counter stools.  But other than that it’s pretty close (if I do say so myself).

P.S. You can click on any of the images to take you to the store’s website.  I intentionally ignored pricing for this because it’s just a starting off point, not an actual mood board.  So try not to get sticker shock! :)

Obviously, there’s a lot of decorations missing, but in the interest of not writing a novel, I thought I’d stick with the basic pieces necessary for making a modern farmhouse kitchen.  Personally, I like making the major pieces very “farmhouse”y and using the accents to make it modern, but it’d be just as easy to do it the other way if you were so inclined.  I prefer my method because farmhouse pieces look better with time, wear, use, and abuse, so you’ll be able to get a better return on your investment.  Some modern furniture also has that quality, but you’d have to be more careful about which pieces you picked.  Plus farmhouse pieces have stood the test of time, whereas modern furniture, while undoubtedly gorgeous right now, may look dated in a few years.

That’s about it – maybe one day we’ll actually buy a house and decorate it.  But until then, thanks Internet!
