My older sister is pregnant with her first child (woo-hoo!) and so we’re throwing her a baby shower this fall! Per her request, we (my mom, little sister, aunts, and I) are going with a grown-up safari theme. Here’s the board we’re working off of right now:

- This invitation from minted and it sets the tone for the whole shower. I love it soooo much!
- The shower will be at my parent’s house, so we’ll be playing lots of lawn games like croquet, bocce ball, badminton, etc.
- For decoration we’ll use muslin for table cloths with burlap runners and have lots of small vases filled with wildflowers that we’ll get from my parents’ property.
- Dessert is probably going to be a larger cake instead of cupcakes, but I think these cupcake/cookie combos are too cute for words!
- My sister is vegetarian, so we’ll be having lots of veggies, but also some fish hors d’ouevres.
- Since we’ll be doing a full dinner, we’ll also have little salads – how cute are these salads wrapped in cucumber slices?
- Finally, along with other grilled items (like veggie burgers, grilled veggies, etc.), we’ll be having vegetarian chili in little bread bowls.
I’m really excited about it, we have so many other ideas too, I can’t wait to share them with you!!!

How cute! It looks like it will be great fun.
This is so so elegant and well-done. It seems that a lot of people take baby showers in the direction of over-the-top cutesy and that can just be sickening sometimes. I really like that this has a playful yet grown-up feel to it. And – decorating with wild flowers is one of my favorite things to do
Side note, I love hearing that other people and their families play bocce! I grew up playing it and my family even has a pretty intense bocce tournament every year at my uncle’s house, haha
I hope you have so much fun becoming an auntie!
Oh thank you!
The shower was absolutely stunning and for all of the other readers: meredith was brilliant enough to put out a plain white piggy bank (only it was a cow bank) and we were all able to sign it for the new baby! I thought it was the sweetest idea ever.
