Paige’s Sweet Sixteen Board

Two cool things happened today.  First, I was going through old magazines and rediscovered this awesome blog.  And second, on that blog, I saw a Reader Question that I actually had an answer to.  I’ve already written my response on the blog, but I told Paige that I would post a sweet sixteen board on this blog for her.  So here you go!  I hope you like it!

1. This candy buffet was made by the inimitable Amy Atlas.
2. Instead of having a giant cake, vary the flavors of dessert with cupcakes.  Especially funfetti cupcakes!
3. Ranunculus will be in season in December and come in lots of punchy colors, and they’re not the frilly flower that boys tend to be averse to.  You can order these in bulk from Whole Blossoms
4. Paper lanterns are a great way to add light (pretty important in midwinter) and tons of color.  They can be found in pretty much any big box store, and they’re getting more and more cost-effective all the time!
5. For your twin brother a comfortable outfit with a fun shirt could be a good way to dress up without feeling like he’s wearing a penguin suit.
6. For you this dress from ModCloth has frills, the right color, and an awesome shape.
7. I love this invitation from Minted.  Plus, it’ll stand out against all the Christmas cards that get sent that time of year!

So there’s my basic idea for an inspiration board based on a candy theme with blue, yellow, and orange or lime colors.  I hope you enjoyed it!  Let me know if you have any questions or if you want me to make a more specific board.
