I’m pretty sure I have decorating ADD. One day I like fun and vibrant palettes and the next I’m going crazy over neutrals. Because of my indecisiveness, one of the things I like to do whenever I look at furniture or decorations is figure out if I can use something at the Fourth of July and Christmas. So, for example, take this set of furniture (from Ethan Allen – love their stuff!)

It’s a very pretty basic set of furniture and a rug, and it’s all in wonderfully neutral tones. But for people like me who like to decorate seasonally, you can add a bunch of accessories in a seasonal color palette. Take this for example:

If you’re really ambitious, you can switch out curtains, put up different pictures of summery goodness (in neutral frames of course!), and do any number of other things including, as always, cranking up the Jimmy Buffett!
Am I the only crazy seasonal decorator out there? I have to believe that I’m not the only person who looks at a lamp and asks which season it fits in – let me know if you do too!
I used to look at things with an eye towards the season. I don’t know when I stopped doing that. My mother used to change out the currents every spring and fall. She was great with a sewing machine and I think she may have made them herself for many years.
One of the things I’d love to do here is replace the blinds. Someday…
P.S. I covet that Glow Melon lamp from Target.
Currents?? lol! That should be “…change out the curtains every spring…”
