One of the things that I’m particularly excited about in the new apartment is the fact that the bathroom will have natural light from an East-facing window. Since we’re both morning shower-ers, that’s going to be just perfect for us! But it’s also made me think about shower curtains. Right now we have an old deep blue shower curtain that matches the one stripe of tile in our bathroom that isn’t white. It’s not bad, but the room is dark to begin with and with the blue shower curtain I sometimes find myself wanting to fall back asleep. So I’ve been thinking about getting or making a lighter shower curtain, like these linen ones spotted on Casa Sugar:

I’d probably get a clear vinyl liner to keep the fabric happy and fresh, but other than that I would probably just leave the shower curtain alone. Although I’ve seen cute shower curtains that have a design or pattern on them, I still prefer the simplicity of a solid colored curtain. And although I would love a ruffly shower curtain like this one from Urban:

But I have a feeling that it might emasculate Marty. Too bad, it is too cute!
No matter what the design (though I’d prefer a straight and tailored look) I’d really like the curtain to be white. This will both allow more light in and make the room not look like a cave (since I do plan on painting the room dark, like I talked about here).
Do you guys have any preference for shower curtains? Or do you prefer sliding shower doors? I’d love to know!
I absolutely prefer shower curtains to sliding doors. For four years I lived with my grandmother in New York, and I swear every morning I *tripped* through those sliding doors into the shower. I’m not very good at mornings most of the time, and that didn’t help!
I love CB2 shower curtains, have you seen those? They have a nice crisp white one: http://www.cb2.com/shower-curtains/bath/1
My bathroom has no windows and it’s an awful plum-greige color, so it’s dark and dismal and makes me want to stay in bed. But I’m thinking of doing cream on the walls and a yellow ceiling, and then adding the CB2 Cityscape curtain. I can’t wait to see pictures of your cheery and very morning-oriented bathroom!
I prefer curtains over doors. I lived with sliding doors for too long, disliking them intensely. They are difficult to clean and they can trip you up on your way out of the shower.
The ruffly shower curtain is very cute. I don’t think Mark would appreciate it either.
